About us

Encouraging equal opportunities for all

Equality and diversity

Our mandate is to protect the public, regardless of their race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.

Promoting equality and diversity is a duty the entire UK government takes very seriously. It is a responsibility shared by all government departments.

We need to work hard to:

  • protect everyone from discrimination
  • improve life chances for all
  • build a sense of community 'togetherness'

This ambition isn't about being politically correct. It’s part of our goal to build a completely civilised society where we can all achieve our potential, free from prejudice.
