Alexandra House

Alexandra House picTraditionally, Alexandra House has provided respite for children of Service families at times of family difficulties or emergencies – both during the day and overnight, in conjunction with the Welfare Services.  This emergency support is often needed when the baby arrives early or unexpectedly, and there’s no one around to help with the other children in the family or through sudden illness.  Whilst there is a cost for this service, this is affordable and provides a lifeline to families whilst other arrangements can be made.  This 24 hour service is available daily, (with the exception of 2 weekends per month and Christmas /New Year).

However, in response to the popular demand for quality childcare Alexandra House has been developing the Day Care Service and now offers full and sessional Day Care in its Nursery, Monday – Friday 8am – 4.30pm.  We specialise in under 3's, which enables the children to then move on to their local Pre-school where parents can use their Nursery vouchers, and 'First Timers' – away from parents for the first time!

The newly refurbished premises saw the opening in October 2006 of  'The Sunshine Room', a new baby facility catering for up to 12 under 2's and 'The Rainbow Room' dedicated to the 18 months – 3 years age group.  Many parents book sessions – just for a break sometimes – confident in the knowledge that their child is safe and having fun and learning in the stimulating play environment.  Others use the full day care facility to return to work either full or part time.  This facility is open to all but Service families have a priority over places and are offered preferential rates thanks to the donations from Seafarers UK and other charities.  We offer a quality service at competitive prices so please give us a ring and come and see what’s on offer!

We also support the 'Anchor Group' by hosting the popular Saturday club once a month which offers a 'fun day', as a means of respite, for disabled children of Service families.
