Tall Trees Family Community Centre

Tall Trees Community centre is situated centrally on Taranto Hill in Ilchester, close to the Service Family Accomodation, and provides services for the whole community. The services available at Tall Trees are not exclusive to Ilchester we are also here to meet the needs of families based in Yeovil.

The centre is open to Tri Service Personnel and their families, we also welcome ex service people and Honorary Membership is available. The Community office is based within Tall Trees Community Centre, Tracey Hallett the Community Development Worker can be found here and is very keen to support local families. This can particularly useful when families first arrive in new surroundings. The Team at Tall Trees like to offer a warm and friendly welcome to help you settle into your new community.

The social / bar area is open weekday evenings and weekends. The bar offers social functions for adults and children. Children’s events range from discos to games evenings and we also offer varied holiday activities. There is a Junior Youth Club that meets in the centre on a Monday evening. The adult entertainment evenings usually comprise of a live band or comedian. Details of all events are advertised in the bi-monthly community magazine 'The Family Tree' and posters are promulgated in the local vicinity. The community centre also has a darts and pool team that compete locally and there is a large screen TV for all sporting events, Sky TV is also available.

The Community Development Worker supports the Heron Pre School, which offers activities and education to children between the ages of 2-5 years. The Heron Pre School is open daily from 0900 – 1500 and offers sessions to suit most needs. The Pre School has recently received an excellent OFSTED inspection.

The Community Centre offers a full program, including yummy mummy coffee mornings, toddler ballet, Jo Jingles music classes, youth group, creative playtime toddler group, baby clinic and antenatal group. We are always looking at ways to enhance our program and welcome any new ideas for activities from families.

The Centre offers a fully furnished purpose built crèche room that is available to hire and absolutely ideal for children’s Birthday parties. The Centre is a very popular choice for private parties and booking is simple all you need to do is call us on the above number!

The 'HIVE' information office is also situated within the community centre, and offers an information service to all Tri Service Personnel and their families covering a range of subjects. The 'HIVE' information officer can provide bespoke information packs, containing relevant information for each individual family. The 'HIVE' is an essential first stop for anyone arriving in the area. "The answer is only a question away".
