0701 Advanced Glass Reinforced Plastic

Designed to provide senior rating marine engineering students with an insight into construction of GRP vessels, horizontal and vertical lay-ups using woven roving. The student will gain the ability to repair up to 1m². Students will also gain an insight into fundamental surveying techniques.

0702 Advanced Stability

The course is designed to give Marine Engineer Officers or equivalent level staff a deep understanding of stability to enable them to assess its affect on ships in operations / practical situations. This prepares the student for roles such as docking officers, or seagoing officers responsible for ballast control systems.

0703 Controllable Pitch Propeller (Closed Loop)

Designed to provide senior rating marine engineering students with the ability to operate the Controllable Pitch Propeller Closed Circuit Hydraulic System (CCHS) in all modes. To enable the student to set to work the CCHS and it's associated controls; and to diagnose and rectify faults.

0704 Diesel Engine Specialist Maintainer (ADDIESEL - ICE)

Designed to provide the Diesel maintenance training required to carry out the duties of the Diesel Power Generation and Distribution systems specialist maintainer for equipment commonly fitted in surface ships.

0705 Gas Turbine Familiarisation

Designed as a generic course aimed at providing the marine engineer student with an understanding of the construction, installation and operation of a Gas Turbine concluding with a Setting to Work Routine on a Gas Turbine.

0706 Glass Reinforced Plastic Survey

A course designed to provide Marine Engineering Officers and equivalent levels staff with an insight into fundamentals of GRP ship design, surveying (general and damage) and to be able to identify common GRP faults and defects. The students will also learn about the latest research and development techniques and ideas.

0710Hydraulic Maintainer

0711 International Advanced Diesel (Ratings)

To enable Ratings up to Chief Petty Officers, or equivalent, to: Supervise the running of main propulsion and electrical generating diesel engines. Diagnose faults and supervise or carry out the appropriate rectification. Carry out maintenance including top Overhauls, fuel pump timing, phasing and calibration and general engine maintenance.

0712 International Advanced Refrigeration

0714 International Basic Diesel (Ratings)

To enable ratings up to Chief Petty Officer level, or equivalent, to: Carry out watch keeping duties on main propulsion and electrical generating diesel engines, and to be aware of faults and their dangers. Effect minor repairs and carry out planned maintenance tasks including, the top overhaul of a small engine.

0713International Benchcraft
To train Ratings in the use of hand and machine tools (excluding lathes) and to develop their skill of hand. To assess potential to undertake the craft content of the Artificer Candidates' Course (ACC).

0717International Refrigeration
To enable personnel to: Check that a refrigeration plant is functioning correctly and diagnose faults. Carry out minor maintenance/repairs and correct a refrigerant leakage. Take the appropriate action in the event of major refrigerant leakage.
