HMS Wildfire

Based in the beautiful Edwardian mansion of Brackenhill House, HMS Wildfire is the Royal Naval Reserve unit attached to the UK’s National Defence Headquarters in Northwood, London.

HMS Wildfire is one of thirteen units around the United Kingdom supporting the training and deployment of naval reservists drawn from all walks of life.

The Royal Naval Reserve (RNR) is the Royal Navy’s equivalent of the Territorial Army (TA), and has some 3,500 officers and ratings in several specialisations providing a highly trained, adaptable and professional source of military personnel.  In common with other reserve units, HMS Wildfire offers paid professional and adventurous training in the UK and abroad.  In return officers and ratings are committed to a minimum of two weeks a year, a few weekends and attendance at drill nights most Wednesdays from 1930-2130.  There is also a lively social life.

The key to sustaining the effectiveness of the RNR's force, is through ensuring a continued source of highly trained men and women who can fill vital roles in times of stress, crisis, tension or war, serving alongside regular counterparts to the same standard and commitment.  HMS Wildfire has a team of full time instructors and first class training facilities to equip volunteers for their chosen specialisations.  Wildfire’s personnel also benefit from the gym, messes and other facilities at the National Defence Headquarters, working alongside the Army and RAF as well as the armed forces of other NATO countries.

Recruitment evenings on the last Wednesday of every month.
