HMS Calliope

Right next to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, HMS Calliope is the principal Training Centre for the North and North East; and home base for some 100 reservists.

Our reservists come from all walks-of-life and all parts of the North East.  HMS CALLIOPE is a welcoming, friendly and vibrant environment, in which to learn new skills, make friends and take on exciting challenges.
Training takes place on a Monday night and on regular weekends throughout the year, and the unit provides Naval Reservists in the region the opportunity to develop a professionally satisfying part time career with the Royal Navy.  There are also numerous opportunities to serve alongside our full time RN colleagues both in the UK and overseas.

See the Unit Information, Unit Departments and How do I join? pages for more Information.
