Civic City of Portsmouth This strong affiliation is re-affirmed annually with ship-hosted and civic-hosted receptions. The ship's official charity for which it raises money throughout each annual deployment south, is that selected by the Lord Mayor for his/her official charity. Presently this is the 'Save a Life' campaign to purchase and equip Paramedic Motorbikes for use around the city.
Livery Worshipful Company of Clockmakers

This affiliation started in 2002 with many members of the Worshipful Company attending the Ship's Reception in Sep and thereafter a team from the ship was hosted at the Worshipful Company's Annual Dinner in Oct. This is set to become a very strong relationship.

Note: Not an affiliation, but, a talk was also given in Oct to the Honourable Company of Master Mariners in London by the CO who is a member of this Livery Company.

Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Stowe School

A team and a helicopter from the ship visited Stowe School in Oct to talk to the CCF about HMS Endurance and the Royal Navy. A 40- minute Power Point Presentation given to 70 members of the CCF aged between 14 and 18 yrs plus a tour of the helicopter was well received.

Sea Cadet Corp (SCC)

Endurance Bristol

Regular Communication maintained, but no visits were made in 02. Intention is to visit on return on 03.
SCC Terra Nova, Croyden 30 cadets and 6 members of staff from this unit visited Endurance in Portsmouth in Oct for a Ship's tour. They received a variety of items to be used as prizes throughout the rest of the year. A reciprocal visit by members of the ship's company to the unit is being looked at after our return in 03.

Endurance, North Shields

A SR from Endurance who is resident in Newcastle visited this unit this year in Sep, for the second year running, on a parade night. He talked to the cadets about Endurance and the Antarctic and donated items for use as prizes at later dates. He is maintaining an e-mail link with them while we are deployed.

Manorfield Infant School, Basingstoke

This affiliation has been strongly maintained through regular correspondence between the school and the ship while deployed. 60 children between 5 and 6 years old plus staff visited the ship in Portsmouth in Oct for a tour and refreshments on completion. They also drew pictures of the ship from the jetty and were given PR items to take away. A return visit to the school is planned for 03. Wellington School, Somerset

Not currently an affiliated School.

One of the officers onboard has 2 children at this school. He gave a talk to all 270 members of the junior school, age group 3-10 yrs, in Sep about Antarctica, Endurance and the RN.

A number of PR items were handed out at the end to much interest from the children, and the Headmaster, Mr John Wyatt invited a return presentation in the summer of 2003.

Note: Wellington used to be affiliated with HMS Bulldog, but the ship has now been paid off and the school is without an affiliated ship. Talk is afoot to affiliate the ship with the school.
