International Debut - 5th!

ZX3R2576.jpgWell, our international debut has just come to an end and we have surpassed our own expectations and probably surprised quite a few people.  The aim of the regatta was to settle into some racing and identify what areas we needed to concentrate on to keep taking our training forward at the fastest possible rate.  To find ourselves in the hunt for medals and to finish 5th overall and top British boat was truely amazing.

Navy Team Sailing

Over the last couple of months I have been working hard to get my new Olympic Campaign planned and up and running. In mid November our International Sailing Federation voted and agreed the classes of boat that would be used in the 2012 Olympics. There were a few close votes but eventually the only change for the women was the keel boat which has changed from the Yngling to the Elliot 6m with a new format being match racing. Due to my size and weight I have decided to switch from the Laser Radial to the 470 for this campaign and have been busy getting hold of a boat and setting it up ready for some intensive winter training.

Olympic Selection

At the start of this month I raced and won the final selection trial for the 4th year in a row. It is the last chance for the team to race each other in two man boats called pairs and gives the chief coach, Jürgen Grobler, the final piece of information he needs to select his Olympic crews.
