Plymouth Royal Navy / Royal Marines Swimming Club

Club Policy Statement

"Plymouth Royal Navy / Royal Marines Swimming Club is fully committed to safeguarding the well-being of all its members particularly children. Volunteers should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and welfare of others, and conduct themselves in a way which reflects the principles of the Royal Life Saving Society UK and the Amateur Swimming Association."

Child Protection Policy

The Plymouth Royal Navy / Royal Marines Swimming Club accepts that in all matters concerning child protection the welfare and protection of the child is the paramount consideration.

It is the policy of the Plymouth RN / RM S.C. to safeguard the welfare of children and all others involved in its activities by protecting them from physical, sexual and emotional harm.

All Teachers, Coaches, and Helpers who will be helping the Plymouth RN / RM S.C. Junior Section will be required to disclose all convictions, whether spent or not. Checks will be made on all adults who have not already been the subject of vetting by other approved youth organisations.

All adults involved in the Plymouth RN / RM S.C. activities are required to follow the Clubs Code of Behaviour. They must also be familiar with the steps to be taken in event of becoming aware of, suspecting or receiving allegations of abuse.

Anyone convicted of an offence involving abuse or causing harm to children will be subjected to disciplinary action, which will normally include expulsion from membership of the club and prohibition from participating in the activities of the club.

Adults against whom allegations of such offences have been made, which appear well founded, will be denied access to children in the course of club activities even though they may not have been convicted of a relevant offence. Any person so accused does of course have the right to appeal against this decision.

All Teachers, Coaches, and Helpers will be vetted by the Amateur Swimming Association.
