The Armed Forces Careers Office is situated in the Centre Promenade, Bristol City Centre opposite the Hippodrome Theatre. Displaying prominent tri-service insignia, the office is approximately 20 minutes walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station and 5 minutes walk from the main bus station. Regular bus services (Number 8/9) depart from the train station at approximately 10-minute intervals. If travelling by road, follow signs for the City Centre and utilise one of the local car parks in Queen Charlotte Street and Trenchard Street.

Opening Times

We are open from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday and we have an answer phone for any out of hours telephone calls. We are happy to talk with you about careers in the Royal Navy,  the Royal Marines, and the opportunities available within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Reserves. No appointment is necessary, just come along and have a chat and watch some career DVDs.


The careers advisers are available to offer advice and answer questions on any aspect of service life and careers within the Naval Service.  Between us we have many years of experience and can assist you in choosing a career that is right for you.

Currently there are 3 Careers Advisers working in the Bristol office; WO2 Neil Hodgson RM (the Office Manager), PO Andy Warren and WO1 Steve Savage RM, all of whom are ably assisted by the Assistant Career Adviser, LET(WE) Karl Atkins.

We have a variety of Presentation teams that tour schools and colleges raising awareness about the Royal Navy and Royal Marines and explore the issues with young people about the role of the modern service including:

• The role of the RN/RM and the Reserve Forces in the defence of the UK
• The diversity of work currently undertaken worldwide
• The training given to our young men and women
• Open question and answer sessions

Presented by serving men and women trained to ensure the presentation is both lively and informative.
