    What qualifications will I need?

You need to be a fully qualified Priest or Minister of your own Church with at least three years of ministry in a church or parochial setting.

What does Selection and Training require?

The selection process requires sponsorship from the applicants own denomination and assessment and selection by the Royal Navy. All potential Chaplains will attend an Admiralty Interview Board.

All New Entry Chaplains undertake the Chaplains' Induction Course at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. The purpose of this course is to provide the military background and context for your ministry. It’s hard work and physically demanding, but the experience it gives you is invaluable.

After Dartmouth, you will be given further general training to enable you to function in the naval environment and also training that is specific to your first appointment.   In-service training is also provided throughout an individual’s career.
