Information for Teachers

Information for TeachersAs a teacher you will be interested in ensuring that your students choose the sort of career that opens up a promising future.

No matter what your students want to do, the chances are that the Royal Navy or Royal Marines can give them a job and training that will help them realise their potential. Only males can be part of the Royal Marines but there are also positions available for females in the Royal Marines Band.

A career in the Royal marines can offer them:

  • Variety
  • Prospects
  • Challenges
  • Security
  • Good pay and allowances
  • Accredited training
  • A full package of fringe benefits

The selection process begins with the Potential Royal Marines Commando course (PRMC) and a Potential Officer Course (POC) that they have to pass before they can begin the full training programme at Lympstone. Both of these courses last for three days and are an opportunity for both the Royal Marines and the potential recruit to know whether the applicant has the physical and mental abilities to become a Royal Marine Commando.

To find out more about the levels of fitness and preparation for the PRMC and POC visit see the Get Fit to Apply tool

On successful completion of the PRMC / POC candidates will be invited back to Lympstone to begin a rigorous training programme across thirty-two weeks at the Commando Training Centre. Find out more about the training course.
