"Run the Gun" Challenge

Run the Gun ChallengeThe Run the Gun Challenge consists of carrying one heavy Royal Navy Field Gun wheel and equipment as detailed HMS Collingwood will be hosting a Run the Gun Challenge between March and June 2007 as part of the Field Gun 100 Centenary year  It will involve using a half size Field Gun on Command Training Groups “Cliff and Chasm” route.  Any team from any unit within the Armed Forces, Ministry of Defence and Civilian Organisations are invited to put forward a team.  Team sizes should be between 6 and 12 persons.  It is a physically demanding course and personnel will receive training in how to conduct the Run before commencement of their challenge attempt.  All times achieved will be placed in a table and at the end of the Challenge period the Winner and Runners up will be awarded a prize and trophy.  All entrants will be informed of their teams place within the table. 

The Run the Gun Challenge consists of carrying one heavy Royal Navy Field Gun wheel and equipment as detailed below, over a wall, up a vertical net, across a chasm, up and down several inclines/declines, and running to the finish point. Ropes and spars are provided, together with a Field Gun for use along the shingle track.  Each team will consist of between 6 and 11 people (including the leader).
