Royal Navy Parachuting

The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Sport Parachute Association (RN & RM SPA) exists to provide a focus for all Naval Skydiving with the exception of Display Parachuting. The Association's primary purpose is to provide introduction and continuation training to members of the Royal Navy, and their dependents, and provide facilities for progression to a higher standard, and eventually opportunity to represent the Association and the Royal Navy in appropriate competitions.

The RN & RM SPA is co-located with the Army Parachute Association (APA) at Netheravon Airfield, Wiltshire and will shortly have a permanently established headquarters on site. The majority of introduction to the sport is either through Association organised Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Expeditions or taking members from JSAT Courses.

The Association will accept membership from any member of the Royal Navy or their dependants, regardless of experience level, and attempt to provide a service appropriate to their current skydiving abilities. The Association exists because of the keenness of its membership, and all are encouraged to progress in any way possible, to eventually become instructors, packers, riggers, coaches etc. They may even find they gain the skills to transfer to the RN Raiders Parachute Display Team.

The Association holds regular training weekends at Netheravon, to develop skills and improve competitive ability. It enters the Rhine Army Parachute Championships and the Armed Forced Parachute Championships, and if a suitably capable team can be developed, will continue to enter the British Parachute Association (BPA) National Championships.

The Association runs annual expeditions to overseas locations for AFF training and consolidation.
