A Taste of life beneath the ocean waves was on the menu for the families and friends of HMS Tireless this month.

Joining the Trafalgar-class submarine inside Plymouth breakwater before a short transit south to dive in the South Coast Exercise Areas, more than 60 invited guests over two days were given demonstrations of fire-fighting techniques and torpedo attack drills and witnessed first hand what it is to live and work onboard a nuclear submarine.

The visit also included a rare opportunity for the family of AB (WS) Robert Breen to see him receive his ‘dolphins’ having recently passed his Basic Submarine Qualification (BSQ).

Speaking after the visits, Commanding Officer, Cdr Ed Ahlgren said: “These visits to Tireless have been a great success and I hope will live long in the memory of both the Ship’s company as well as their friends and families.
