Deliberative public engagement: nine principles

We are pleased to be sending you Deliberative public engagement: nine principles, Involve and the National Consumer Council's (NCC) new publication that sets out the key principles for effective and high-quality deliberative public engagement. The publication was launched on Wednesday 9 July to coincide with the government's launch of the Empowerment White Paper.

The Ministry of Justice today launched a National framework for greater citizen engagement, a discussion paper setting out the government's commitment to explore new methods of involving the public in debates and decision-making on national issues. To read the document click here.  

Point of care: seeing the person in the patient

The point of care programme aims to improve the experience of care across the health system for patients and their families, starting with acute care in hospitals. Enabling staff to see – and care for – the person in the patient demands compassion, empathy, emotional support, physical comfort and the involvement of family and friends.
