This document aims to help local health communities and organisations improve the quality and value of care for acute adult mental health patients. It is one of a series of documents produced as part of the high volume Healthcare Resource Groups (HRG) programme.

Target audience
All staff working within or managing services that directly or indirectly support patients/service users that have adult mental health
needs, primarily Mental Health Trusts and their commissioners. However there are also implications for GPs, social care, voluntary organisations, the police, NHS acute trusts, etc
