Lord-Lieutenant for Gwent

The Queen has today approved the appointment of Mr Simon Boyle DL as Lord-Lieutenant for Gwent following the retirement of Sir Richard Hanbury Tenison KCVO.

Simon Boyle (60) recently retired after spending the last 31 years with British Steel, now Corus. Mr Boyle was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 1997, and was High Sheriff for Gwent in 1993. He is Chairman of the Monmouth Diocesan Parsonage Board, Vice-Chairman of the Diocesan Board of Finance, and a Trustee of St David’s Foundation Hospice Care. His wife runs a successful gardening school and nursery at their home at Penpergwm.

Mr Boyle and his wife Catriona have four grown-up daughters.
