Drive for Change

Drive for ChangeThe Drive for Change approach and toolkit for employee engagement in service improvements has been developed in response to a recommendation from the Work Foundation in its Public Services Forum commissioned of trade union and employee involvement in public service reform.

Sponsored by the Public Services Forum, Drive for Change is a joint Cabinet Office-TUC project which comprises an approach and web-based toolkit for public service employers, trade unions and employees to use together, providing a mixture of diagnostics, guidance and activities to support closer dialogue and joint working to take forward change to, or redesign of, services.

The approach has been piloted in four public service organisations - Holloway Prison, Birmingham City Council, Sheffield City Council, and the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust. While it is too early to conduct a full evaluation of the success of these initiatives, all four have already demonstrated tangible results, including a significant reduction in self-harm in Holloway Prison, and a social care self-rostering pilot in Birmingham.

Visit the Drive for Change website for further information on the approach.
