Free design workshops for key stage 2-5 student groups
2, 8, 9, 16, 17, 22 May 8, 13, 14 June 2007
Students were challenged to design an 18th-century style home but fit for 21st-century living. Working with museum educators and designers, students were introduced to design styles, materials and processes in designing as well as contemporary issues in architecture and design. To inspire their creativity they visited the James Athenian Stuart exhibition, British Galleries, the RIBA+V&A Architecture Gallery and RIBA+V&A Study Rooms, to explore original designs, architectural drawings and artefacts. They worked in small project teams and ended the day with presentations to the whole class.
