Jean and Giselle Paul and The Ritz Hotel v Assistant Deputy Coroner Of Inner West London

16 November 2007
Court 3, Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London

The Queen on the application of Jean and Giselle Paul and The Ritz Hotel v Assistant Deputy Coroner Of Inner West London.

Claimant seeks to challenge the decision of Lord Justice Scott Baker sitting as an Assistant Deputy Coroner of Inner West London on 7th November 2007 ruling that the documentary evidence containing witness statements of the French paparazzi (the Hearsay Accounts) can be read to the jury (or showed on film).

The claimant submits that the defendant has erred in his understanding of the Coroner’s Rules 1984 insofar that his ruling would obstruct the right of interested parties to cross-examine the witnesses.
