Nomination of the Suffragan See of Taunton

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Peter David Maurice BA, to the Suffragan See of Taunton, in the Diocese of Bath and Wells, in succession to the Right Reverend Andrew John Radford, who died in May 2006.

Peter Maurice (born 1951) studied first at Saint Chad's College, Durham for his BA and then trained for the ordained ministry at the College of the Resurrection at Mirfield. He served his first curacy at Wandsworth Saint Paul in Southwark Diocese from 1975 to 1979 and was Team Vicar of Mortlake with East Sheen from 1979 to 1985. From 1985 to 1996 he was Vicar of Rotherhithe Holy Trinity and was Rural Dean of Bermondsey from 1991 to 1996. From 1996 to 2003 he was Vicar of Tooting, All Saints. He has been Archdeacon of Wells and a Canon Residentiary and Prebendary of Wells Cathedral since 2003.

Peter Maurice is married to Elizabeth and they have two sons and one daughter. His interests include sports and bird-watching.
