Sporting facilities
The Government wants to ensure that every community has access to as wide a range of facilities as possible, and that everybody has the chance to use them.
Local authorities are key providers of sport and recreation and play a central role in the delivery of sport in and for the community. They are best placed to make the difficult decisions about what facilities to provide at the expense of local tax payers.
The Government has recently introduced new protection to prevent the unnecessary sale of playing fields.
The Government played a key role in securing the future of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, as well as the national football stadium at Wembley.
