Privy Council Appointment of Sir David Edward and Francis Jacobs

The Queen has been pleased to approve that Sir David Edward KCMG and Francis Jacobs Esq be sworn of Her Majesty’s most honourable Privy Council.

Sir David (Alexander Ogilvy) Edward: Born 1934. Awarded KCMG, 2004; CMG, 1981. Admitted Advocate, 1962; QC (Scotland), 1974; Judge of the Court of First Instance, 1989-92; Judge of the Court of Justice of the European Communities, 1992-2004.

Francis Geoffrey Jacobs: Born 1939. Called to the Bar, Middle Temple, 1964; Bencher 1990; QC, 1984; Professor of European Law, University of London, 1974-88; Director, Centre of European Law, King’s College, London, 1981-88; UK Advocate General, Court of Justice of the European Communities since 1988.
