The GKIM Professional Skills Framework has been developed to support the delivery of the recommendations in Information matters: building government's capability in managing knowledge and information. The framework has been approved and endorsed by the Knowledge Council.

The GKIM Professional Skills Framework provides government with a common language to describe the specialist attributes that characterise knowledge and information management professionals. It is designed for use in recruiting, promoting, appraising and developing knowledge and information management professionals in government and to sit alongside the Professional Skills for Government (PSG) civil service competency framework.

There are two versions of the framework available for you to download.

The GKIM Professional Skills Framework - detailed overview below sets out the first three levels of the framework as a diagram and is suitable for anyone wishing to view the structure of the framework in more detail, without having to read the entire document.
