In general, the quickest way to trace a grave is as follows:

Contact the United Synagogue. There are some details from the early 1870s, but most information is obtainable after 1898. It is preferred that enquiries are presented by fax or email: unitedsynbs@email.com. Their web address is *www.unitedsynagogue.org.uk

Or write to:

United Synagogue Burial Society
Finchley Office (Bushey and Willesden Cemeteries)
P.O. Box 9537
Kinloss Gardens N3 3DU
Fax: 020 8346 3402

North East London Local Office
Schaller House
22 Beehive Lane
Essex IG1 3RT
(Enclose a stamped addressed envelope)
Fax: 020 8518 2926

For burials earlier than 1898, the West Ham Registers (not on computer) go back to the early 1870's. Approaches should be made to the Ilford Burial Society at the North East London Local Office address given above. (There is no charge)

The Federation of Synagogues' records go back to about 1890. Their address is:

Federation of Synagogues Burial Society,
65 Watford Way
London NW4 3AQ
Fax: 020 8203 0610
(There is no charge)
