Art hanging at Downing Street

This short film showing works of art from the Government Art Collection (GAC) being hung in 10 Downing Street. Most of the works of art at 10 Downing Street are from the GAC, with its remit to promote British art, culture and history in major Government buildings in the UK and around the world. Working with 10 Downing Street staff, the GAC selects and changes displays in the various representational areas of the building, as well as recalling individual works for loans to public exhibitions. In this high profile location, every time a work of art is removed, another takes its place. In these clips four historical paintings are being exchanged in the state rooms of No.10 ahead of the GAC's exhibition Revealed: Government Art Collection to be held at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (17 November 2012 -- 24 February 2014) and at the Ulster Museum, Belfast (15 March -- 9 June 2013). The exhibition unites five consecutive GAC displays held at the Whitechapel Gallery in London from June 2011 to September 2012. See for further details.
