Employment up 202,000 compared with the previous quarter

There was an increase in employment and a fall in unemployment, when comparing January to March 2015 with October to December 2014.

Comparing January to March 2015 with October to December 2014, the number of people in employment increased by 202,000 (to reach 31.10 million), the number of unemployed people fell by 35,000 (to reach 1.83 million) and the number of people not in the labour force (economically inactive) aged from 16 to 64 fell by 69,000 (to reach 8.98 million).
