About Cromwell Bottom

Located on the River Calder, between Elland and Brighouse in Calderdale.

Perhaps the most important wildlife site in Calderdale – now being developed as a prime conservation area.

The site has been influenced and shaped by its industrial past so you can find some species of plants here that you wouldn’t otherwise find in the Calderdale area – for example, spiny rest-harrow and centaury.

It forms an important part of a green corridor that links Cromwell Bottom to other natural areas and a diversity of habitats up and down the River Calder.
