A7(a). Community Actions to Tackle Alcohol Harms
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 29 April, 2015
Please describe how you have supported local community activity to tackle alcohol's social and health harms, over the last year (2000 characters limit):
A total of 32 new Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAPs) were launched during the period April 2014 – March 2015 including 9 new CAPs in Local Alcohol Action Areas (LAAAs) - bringing to 12 the total number of CAPs in LAAAs and 84 the total number of CAPs set up to date across the UK. Waitrose continues to support the Kent, Caversham and Reading CAPs.
We sponsored the Trading Standards Institute's (TSI) 'Create a Campaign' initiative which invites teams of young people aged 12-15 to get creative and come up with a campaign to combat illegal underage sales and help prevent the use of tobacco and alcohol products by children. ‘Create a Campaign’ offers participating school across the UK the opportunity to win one of two £1,000 prizes and the chance to come to the TSI's annual conference to collect them.
