P3. Active Travel

Committed since:

1 January, 2013

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 29 December, 2011

The work undertaken or planned by the organisation to support active travel is primarily for employees although some may also be relevant to visitors to the offices. At the current time the offices provide employees with secure bike storage facilities, lockers and shower facilities which enable staff, for example, to walk, run, cycle to work or at lunchtime. In addition to this in London we reimburse staff who use the 'Boris' bike cycle scheme to travel between the office and attendance at other office locations for external meetings in place of other forms of public transport or taxi. The organisations future plans include:•making walking routes available from the local tube stations to the london office; encouraging people to get off one stop early and take in the sights!•pulling together circular walking/cycle routes for staff to use at lunchtimes to encourage them to leave the office and take some exercise to refresh them for the afternoon.•work with the 'Boris' bike scheme and cycle providers in Leeds to offer trial sessions for people to try at lunchtime or as a one off to see if they could commute more regularly, differently!
