Delivery plan:

Submitted: 22 December, 2011

Historically National Grid all direct employees have been offered the opportunity to attend a free private and confidentail cardiovascular risk assessment delivered via our occupational health provider. This risk calculation follows the JBS2 guidelines (Joint British Societies' guidelines on the prevention of cardiovascular disease) and uses the cardiovascular risk assessor tool. This health assessment was taken up by over 60% of eligible employees (2009-2011).All employees that, as result of attending a health assessment, were referred to their GP for follow up, were contacted 3 months post the initial health screen, and offerd further support including the option to attend a follow up health assessment. From April 2012 the cardiovascular risk assessment is starting to be expaned to form a more holistic wellness check that looks to addresses both physical and mental health .In 2012, National Grid will pilot an employee weight management program.National Grid has and will continue to signpost NHS screening programmes via various communications channels including, employee wellness checks, employee tailored health promotion materials, company health and wellbeing intranet pages and, where appropriate, awareness events.
