Submitted: 7 June, 2013
How many of your employees have used the staff health check offer? If unknown, please explain why.
We encouraged staff to visit Lloyds Pharmacy to have a free cholesterol test, flyers promoting this were left near the office tea point and e-mails were sent encouraging them to take up this offer. To date only three staff have had their cholestral levels checked however we continue to promote this at staff meetings.
Our staff are encouraged to use the office blood pressure monitoring equipment and only recently a member of our team's reading was high so he made an appointment to see his GP and is currently receiving medical treatment.
During the winter months we offered to pay for the Flu jab and two staff took up this offer.
All staff have been issued with a bottle of hand sterilizing jell to combat the spread of germs.
We have promoted the use of the following health self assessment Websites, books and information sheets:
A stress awareness self help talk was given at our team build along with handouts.
We get regular newsletters from the SUMO Guy who writes inspirational material which we share with the team.
At our Planning Day we invited Peter Rea who is an inspirational speaker. He encouraged our team to look at the areas of their own life which they could change/improve. Staff agreed he was a true inspiration encouraging motivation, passion and drive.
A wellbeing guide issued: http://www.resourcesorg.co.uk/assets/pdfs/Gateshead.C.pdf, covering Five a day for health and happiness, Exercise, Good Mood Food, Alcohol awareness, Stopping Smoking, Money and mental wellbeing, Relaxation, Sleep, Recognising Anxiety, Recognising Depression, Recognising Stress, Take the stress test!
