Over the previous 12 months, Hope North East (HNE) CIC has supported effort to increase the physical activity of staff, volunteers and service users, by linking into community services as part of successful recovery and re-integration.HNE has access to the stages academy fitness suite for staff to access for free (subject to induction). HNE volunteers are encouraged to access the lifeline recovery and fitness sessions which are now running in partnership with Teesside University. HNE has a two wet rooms and shower facilities which staff and volunteers can access.These have been used by individuals who wish to run/ exercise during lunchtime. HNE also has a bike storage area (lockable bike racks). HNE is involved in promoting a range of community activities which increase levels of physical activity.These include: -Weekend recovery walks -Middlesbrough 5k and 10 k town runs -Cycling to/from work -Team building events -Men's health fitnessA team member has been nominated in the first stage of selection to carry the 'Olympic flame' through the town. These events and activities are promoted using the team meeting, emails and posters. HNE also promotes these events via its website http://www.HopeNorthEast.org.uk and Facebook page HopeNorthEast. HNE has provided staff and volunteers with a range of information concerning the town's network of cycle routes to encourage journeys by bicycle. We use a selection of rides which can be found on the 'Do It By Cycle' website.
