At Nestlé we believe our people make the difference and that is why helping them understand great health and wellbeing is very important. Being both mentally and physically well, enables us to get the most out of our lives.
In January 2015, Nestlé UK made changes to the flexible working policies which now provide employees greater control, flexibility, and choice in how they manage their work life blend. The adjustments to the Flexibility Policy were designed to allow employees the flexibility to better manage their personal needs.
During 2014 we continued our health promotion and information campaigns. For example, partnering with MacMillan Cancer Charity and incorporated their representatives into our ‘Healthy You’ Roadshows; this allowed employees to speak to a MacMillan Cancer Specialist about any cancer concerns for themselves, their family members or get further information to take away.
In March 2015 we have begun the roll out of a 3 year program offering free one to one, comprehensive health checks for all employees and a new ‘Wellbeing at Work’ survey to assess our employee’s psychological wellbeing, enabling us to target help and support employees where required. Delivered by a physiologist the health checks will assess current physical health and address risk factors in addition to providing coaching on behavioural change where required.
Nestlé UK continue to offer a robust sickness absence and rehabilitation process providing information to employees and line managers, support for those suffering from chronic conditions and facilitates return to work (where applicable) with reasonable adjustments such as phased returns and job adjustments.
We continue to offer discretionary benefits such as Top Up Long Term Sickness benefit and partial and full ill health retirement options which support employees who are permanently unable to resume their substantive role due to ill health.
