F3(a). Non use of Artificial Trans Fat
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 21 April, 2013
1. Please indicate if partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (p-HVO) used as an ingredient has been removed from all your products/menu items/SKUs?
2. Please indicate if the level of trans fats in oil and fats used in the preparation of food e.g. frying oil, is limited to a maximum of 2%?
3. When will this reformulation be completed?
Heinz does not use ingredients that contain artificial trans fats. Heinz varieties such as tomato ketchup, condiments and sauces as well as soups, baked beans and pasta do not contain hydrogenated vegetable oil or trans fatty acids (TFAs). Our popular canned sponge puddings use a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil as part of our commitment to eliminate even very small quantities of TFA-containing ingredients. In addition, ingredients containing TFAs have been removed from all frozen desserts. As with all our products, we continue to review the potential to reduce the levels of ingredients such as fat, sugar and salt wherever possible without affecting the taste consumers prefer.
