H7. Mental Health and Wellbeing

KP Snacks works hard to support people with mental health conditions by providing policy, processes and awareness campaigns and/or training to all employees and managers. KP Snacks is currently developing a risk assessment matrix to assess stress factors within the workplace, to identify where, what and when employees are more at risk of becoming stressed and how stress can be managed without it becoming a medical problem or causing ill health.

KP Snacks has a stress awareness and management policy in place. We are reviewing the policy to include mental ill-health issues and management, as well as guidance to differentiate between ‘stress’ and mental ill health. To support the updated policy, information will be made available as to how and when to make a referral to the Employee Health & Wellbeing team for further support either from the in-house team or for appropriate referral to third party health providers, such as local counselling teams, or telephone helplines. A link from the company intranet site with self help details will be made available and similar information made available in hard copy.

By providing appropriate awareness, training and support for line managers and HR professionals, employees can be effectively managed within the workplace and on return to work. When managing absence cases, especially long term, line managers and employees will be made aware of and encouraged to use the support that is available.

Raising awareness and understanding of mental ill health issues to all employees by means of campaigns and training sessions, should lead to a reduction in any negative attitudes or associated stigma and will help to build a culture of understanding and support.
