H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

Please decribe how you and your caterers have encouraged healthier restaurants/vending outlet/buffets (as applicable) for your staff over the last year. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
We have worked closely with our onsite caterers to create a more health conscious menu to encourage employees to make informed healthier eating choices. In addition to the changes already implemented, our provider has extended their less than, low fat and calorie counted ranges at all their sites. Where possible, we have also teamed up with our onsite caterers for our health knowledge events, such as the topics in Q3 2014 which focussed on ‘healthy heart’, ‘misconceptions about food’ and ‘mood and food’. During this particular quarter we ran a total of 13 events (webinars and seminars) which were attended by 679 employees and our onsite caterer provided healthy alternative food options to promote the subject matter discussed during these events. For example, to link in with our ‘healthy heart’ seminar, our caterers provided a lunchtime chef demonstration for a heart healthy meal, and for our ‘mood and food’ event they provided a promotion on smoothies that linked to the ingredients highlighted during the seminar.
We have also worked with our vending machine suppliers who now stock a number of healthier alternative snacks in their machines, including raw nuts. In addition, we have teamed up with external companies to promote a range of different approaches to healthy eating in order to appeal to our diverse workforce.
