F3(b). Artificial Trans Fat Removal
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 28 April, 2015
1. Please indicate if partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (p-HVO) used as an ingredient has been removed from all your products/menu items/SKUs?
2. Please indicate if the level of trans fats in oil and fats used in the preparation of food e.g. frying oil, is limited to a maximum of 2%?
3. When will this reformulation be completed?
Following a recent audit of our UK supply chain of around 50 nominated suppliers, we have identified approximately 1.6% of products used contain Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils. One supplier accounts for 0.7% of these products & are working with them on developing recipes where these can be removed. 0.4% are flavour alternatives of the same product & are restricted to how many are on offer at any one time. The level of trans fats in our frying oil is less than 2%. We will work to further reduce this throughout the year, with the aim to remove from our supply chain for 2016.
