Get Active Sports signed up to the Responsibility Deal, we pledged to use our local presence to get more children and adults more active, more often including engaging communities in planning and delivery.
We currently work with approximately 70 schools across the South East of England delivering PE lessons, extra curricula lessons and workshops across a wide variety of sports.
During the first year of the Responsibility Deal we have accessed approximately 5000 children through schools and community groups and encouraged activity participation. This has been via School assemblies (Healthy Lifestyle and Olympic legacy) Free In school sessions and Weekend taster classes. Get Active Sports have also engaged with community groups in leading and supporting local sports or community based events (School fetes, Christmas fayres and Township fun days) this has included fundraising for schools and charities.
Moving forward Get Active Sports are aiming to now engage more teenagers and adults, targeting specifically parents and teachers within the schools we currently work with. Sessions such as dads and lads football sessions are planned, again taster sessions and fundays will be used to encourage participation with exit routes to local sports clubs along with Get Active Sports own clubs and activities
