We launched ‘Health EY’, our strategic and innovative approach to physical and mental health in February 2014. In order to ensure that our approach becomes embedded into the EY culture, we have collaborated with our health providers to create clear clinical care pathways for absence management, occupational health and psychological and musculoskeletal conditions. It is evident by the increase in occupational health referrals that our employees have embraced the new approach.
We have also launched a quarterly clinically based health knowledge programme on both physical and mental health. The programme is a combination of health professional led webinars and office based events which have enabled us to engage with a wide variety of employees at all levels across the firm. We have run 44 of these events throughout the year, with 1,964 attendees from all parts of the UK. Our physical health quarters have included expert medical advice and guidance on ‘Sleep’ and ‘Healthy Eating’ and our mental health quarters incorporated ‘Cognitive Skills’ and ‘Resilience’. Moving forward, new health related topics have been agreed for each quarter in 2015, with further events planned for each month. We also provide on-going communication to employees to maintain their awareness of health and wellbeing awareness via regular internal news articles, a Health EY yammer group with 1,404 members and an email list of over 1,600+. The membership to our employee disability networks has continued to increase and in addition to their normal activity they have also run a number of events with disability specific external speakers.
In our new office in Canary Wharf, Health EY has facilitated the implementation of an ‘Activity Space’ which will focus on maintaining the health and wellbeing of our employees. This area will include walking desk treadmills, as well as a library for health knowledge and a range of classes such as yoga and Pilates, which will run before and after working hours
