We publicly report on our employee health and wellbeing status each year through our sustainability update (latest version available at http://www.networkrail.co.uk) and through our Annual Report submission to our Regulator, the Office of Rail Regulation. We will continue to do this and explore further reportable metrics that will illustrate our organisational health and wellbeing status.
We outsource our occupational health service to a third party provider, with associated markers of quality assurance. Our provider is currently working towards SEQOHS accreditation and expect to achieve this towards the end of 2013.
We have an approved organisational strategy for employee health and wellbeing that set our vision and approach through to 2024. Our strategy outlines the things we need to do to achieve our aims and focuses on four key areas:
1. Managing a Healthy Workplace
2. Providing Opportunities to Promote Wellbeing
3. Developing a Culture of Wellbeing
4. Providing Guidance, Systems, Policies and Processes.
To encourage our contractors and supply chain members to sign up to the Responsibility Deal pledges, we plan to write to each of them and indicate our membership and encourage them to sign up. We will also review the way we award contracts in the future so specific weighting is given towards those organisations who can demonstrate that they have signed up to Responsibility Deal pledges.
