During 2014 -15 to deliver on our pledge we have:
1.Retendered our occupational health support services, including our EAP and OH Surveillance provider. Using this as an opportunity to ensure that we are providing timely and effective support to managers and employees. Additional training will be provided for managers during 2015 to ensure that they are getting the best out of these services.
2.We have promoted healthy lifestyles and health and wellbeing as part of our employee road shows. We also participated in a week long Water Industry Health Awareness week in October 2014 which coincided with the start of our annual health surveillance programme. Information, posters and competitions on a range of health and wellbeing topics were issued during the week.
3.We have issued monthly health bulletins on the following topics:
Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ovarian Cancer, Travel Health, Diabetes, Work Life Balance, Exercise, Mental Wellbeing, Sensible Drinking, Christmas and Health, Lifestyle Changes, Blood Pressure and Relaxation Techniques, Nutrition.
4.We have continued to work with our Trade Union Safety Representatives to support individual employees and review emerging trends at our quarterly review meetings. We have developed role health risk profiles for operational roles so that our new occupational health provider can better support managers and employees to assess and reviews their fitness for their role and identify suitable adjustments. We have agreed a new attendance management policy and process for phased return to work to ensure that sickness absence is actively monitored by managers and clear trigger points for action to involve occupational health support.
5.We used all the health and wellbeing arrangements we have in place towards a Wales Corporate Health Standard Award. We were audited by Welsh Government which enabled us to benchmark ourselves and we were awarded with a Bronze Award. We are aiming to progress to a Silver Award during 2015.
