H9. Domestic Violence
25 June, 2013
Submitted: 16 April, 2015
Please describe measures you have taken to ensure that an appropriate, safe and sensitive response can be implemented to support your staff in response to experience of stalking, violence or abuse in their lives, which has an effect on people in the workplace.
In recognising that domestic violence/abuse is wholly unacceptable and inexcusable behaviour, Policy and Guidance is available to all HMRC employees, describing the support arrangements and aiming to ensure adequate support within a safe working environment. The guidance provides key issue advice for dealing with abusers, specifically for managers in the support of staff; this includes the establishment of “safety and support” plans. Continuous review of guidance provision has been made looking to consistently build on the information first published in 2013, such as the highlighting of organisations that can be contacted for further information about abuse.
Best Management practice is available and publicised to all employees.
A stakeholder relationship with CAADA (Co-ordinated Action against Domestic Abuse) has been maintained to learn from their organisation.
