1 January, 2013
Submitted: 19 May, 2014
Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
Icelandic Seachill (formerly Coldwater Seafood) have successfully continued with supporting their employees and assisting with physical activity in the workplace. In January we held an on site Zumba Taster session during our healthy week. This allowed employees to participate in a Zumba class on site with a fully trained instructor. During the healthy week, we contacted local Gyms who came to site and issued discount vouchers for the local gyms. They also offered support and advice. Numerous employees signed up to the gym membership and are continuing with regular exercise.
Icelandic Seachill participated in a 100 day challenge where 7 teams from various departments challenged each other to achieve the highest amount of physical activities. A five a side M&S charity football match was held in London at the Docklands Soccer Dome. Icelandic Seachill football team continues with regular training sessions and matches for numerous charities.
An on site Icelandic Seachill Fun Day was held on site where various cycles were available to ride. Numerous employees had the opportunity to ride a tandem bike and through this fun day, encouraged our employees to cycle to work.
A charity sponsored walk took place where some employees raised money for numerous charities such as Sports relief, ARK animal shelter and Leeds teaching hospital.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.
Please estimate the number of your employees who participated in your workplace physical activity programmes over the last year and explain how you arrived at this estimate.
Has the number of your employees participating in your workplace physical activity programmes increased since last year? If unknown, please explain why.
We would be interested to know if your pledge activity over the last year has delivered a measurable increase in participation in physical activity. If so, please describe and provide an estimate of the level of increase and how you measured this. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
