Newcastle University is committed to the health and wellbeing of all staff including those with chronic conditions. The university provides a comprehensive package of wellbeing measures, including policies and procedures in operational practice to support the management of staff with long-term medical conditions or disabilities. In support of the pledge we:provide employee with access to comprehensive occupational health services on campus ensure our sickness absence management processes support our managers to make reasonable work and/or workplace adjustments provide training and guidance for line managers on sickness absence management, disability awareness; mental health first aid and stress management.ensure managers refer to occupational health long-term absence cases for advice on the support required to enable early recovery and return to work with any appropriate adjustments. as appropriate providing onsite physiotherapy services for work-related or work-aggravated musculoskeletal problems as appropriate providing on site counselling support for mental health problems. provide flexible working arrangements for all employees. provide case conference management and phased return to work schemes. as appropriate provide employee with support from the University Disability Co-ordinators; Equality and Diversity Team and Just Ask team. provide comprehensive wellbeing information for employees on our intranet site Keep Well @ NCl which gives access to a collection of resources, links, advice and wellbeing news updates that can help contribute to employee wellbeing and provide an informed understanding on how to manage health conditions. The information contained within the chronic conditions guide will be placed on this intranet site for employees to access. participate in the regional Better Health @ Work award supported by health advocates across the university. Currently progressing with the Silver award. provide a number of wellbeing initiatives across campus throughout the year aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles and enabling employees to be signposted to relevant services for any health conditions identified.provide MOT health lifestyle testing for employees to enable proactive health ownership.Newcastle University will continue to review HR polices, practices and mangers training to embedany additional actions required to reflect the the level of care and support contained in the Employer/Line Manager and Employee Chronic Conditions Guides developed by the Responsibility Deals health at work network.
