Lidl encourages it’s employees to stay physically active by running a range of sports teams for colleagues to participate in. These vary in each geographical area due to popularity and availability but include football, netball, running, rugby etc. We also offer employees subsidised gym memberships through our Lidl Rewards program, making keeping fit more affordable. In 2012 we held a ‘Lidl Olympics’ where colleagues from across the UK formed teams to represent their region at various sports and activities in friendly competitions against each other. This gave everyone the chance to try activities they may not have previously participated in and encouraged team participation. We also sponsor national events such as the Human Race Bananaman Triathlon at Dorney Lake. A Lidl employee race is held during the event which is free to enter for all Lidl colleagues with all equipment provided including bike hire, wetsuit hire etc. We also offer colleagues the opportunity to participate in the annual Kingston Run with all entry fees paid by the Company.
