P4. Physical Activity in the Workplace

We are current holders of the Healthy Working Lives Silver Award ( The programme includes promoting physical activity in the workplace and we aim to support and encourage employees to be regularly active.Each year we organise sporting events for employees through our company funded Sports Social Committee. We pledge to continue to do this and to give all employees the opportunity to make suggestions as to the sort of sports activities they would like organised. Each year we will identify opportunities to support charitable causes which jointly engage employees in physical activity. This year Morrison Bowmore sponsored The Bowmore Ben Nevis Challenge and entered a Morrison Bowmore team which involved an ascent of Ben Nevis by groups of disabled individuals supported by non-disabled team members. We also supported employees participating in The Race for Life.In 2012 we pledge to promote cycling as part of physical activity. We have identified the Dr Bike Programme which offers bicycle servicing and cycle training to staff on site. We plan to book the Bike Station to come on site in March 2012. Employees have been provided with information on local walking routes which we will continue to promote.We will continue to provide private medical insurance to all which gives preferential fitness club membership rates.Each year we will provide employees with access to health promotion leaflets on physical activity.
