FDF actively encourages staff to walk and cycle to work where possible. As part of the 'Feel Good 4 Life' programme, FDF offers staff who have completed their six month probationary period, the opportunity to join the 'Cycle to Work' Scheme. FDF's 'Cycle to Work' scheme has been set up through Cycle Solutions and provides the option to select any bike and cycling equipment up to the maximum retail price of £1,000. FDF loans the cycle and accessories to staff over a 12 month period and staff are charged a monthly salary sacrifice payment. Membership of this scheme is publicised on the FDF staff intranet and in the staff handbook, and is highlighted and made available to all new starters on joining the organization. Staff may join the scheme on a quarterly basis and the normal length of the scheme at FDF is 12 months. FDF provides bicycle storage area and shower facilities to encourage take up of this scheme.
Since signing up to this pledge, FDF's cross-departmental 'Feel Good 4 Life' working group has gone to greater lengths to promote the 'Cycle to Work' scheme internally as well as establishing other health initiatives, such as weekly lunchtime walking and running groups. As part of our pledge, we plan to monitor scheme take up and feedback, via regular staff surveys and through monitoring by departmental 'champions'.
