In May we are launching http://www.fitsoc.co.uk - a sports and fitness based social networking website. The site works as users update the times and activities they wish to do sports and fitness activities in their local area. The site then finds all the other users who want to do the same thing, and matches them up to meet.
The site works for people of all ages and abilities and any new sports and venues can be added. We are hoping this will increase physical activities for the British public and encourage greater awareness of local clubs and facilities on offer by reducing the barriers people taking up a new sport such as working hours or moving to a new city or town.
We are working with numerous venues and organisations to have the greatest impact on the public. We will target all sections of society and help build a truly grass-roots sports and fitness culture. We will work with local authorities and groups to encourage activity among the most sedentary in society.
